Assam Police Recruitment 2026 Notification
State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Assam has released five (5) job advertisements for the recruitment of 5734 posts of Sub Inspector (AB & UB), Assistant Jailor, Constable (AB & UB), Safai Karmachari, Driver Constable, Driver, Assistant Jailor, Station Officer & others in the Assam Police, Assam Commando Battalions, F&ES, DGCD & CGHG, Forest Department and Prison Department.
This is for information of all concerned that the period of receiving of Online Applications against the below mentioned Advertisements has been extended w.e.f. 22-01-2026 to 22-02-2026.
However, the edit option for correction of any inadvertent entry/ typographical mistakes made by the Applicants who have already applied against these Advertisements, will be opened for 5 (five) days w.e.f. 17-01-2026 to 21-01-2026.

Some Criteria of Assam Police Recruitment
Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens, permanent resident of Assam.
Local Language Proficiency: Candidates must speak Assamese or any other state language fluently.
Age Limit for Assam Police Recruitment 2026
Age Limit as on 1st January is as mentioned below:
➢ Constable (UB & AB): The age of the Applicant must be between 18-26 years as on 1 January 2026 (born not before 1 January 2001 and not later than 1 January 2008).
➢ Driver Constable, Constable (Dispatch Rider/Messenger/Handymen) in APRO, Driver and Driver Operator in F&ES, and Driver Constable in Forest Department: The age of the Applicant must be 18-25 years as on 1 January 2026 (born not before 1 January 2001 and not later than 1 January 2008).
➢ Driver in Forest Department: The age of the Applicant must be 18-40 years as on 1 January 2026 (born not before 1 January 1986 and not later than 1 January 2008).
➢ Sub Inspector (UB) and Sub Inspector of Police (Communication): The age of the Applicant must be 20-26 years as on 1 January 2026 (born not before 1 January 2000 and not later than 1 January 2006).
➢ Station Officer and Squad Commander: Age must be 20-24 years as on 1 January 2026 (born not before 1 January 2002 and not later than 1 January 2006).
➢ Assistant Jailor: The age of the Applicant must be 21-40 years as on 1 January 2026 (born not before 1 January 1986 and not later than 1 January 2005).
➢ Sub Inspector (AB) in Commando Battalions: The age of the Applicant must be 20-24 years as on 1 January 2026 (born not before 1 January 2002 and not later than 1 January 2006).
Constable (AB) in Commando Battalions: The age of the Applicant must be 18-21 years as on 1 January 2026 (born not before 1 January 2005 and not later than 1 January 2008).
➢ Safai Karmachari: The age of the Applicant must be 18-40 years as on 1 January 2026 (born not before 1 January 1986 and not later than 1 January 2008).
➢ Jail Warder: The age of the Applicant must be 18-40 years as on 01-01-2026 (i.e., Applicants born not before 01-01-1986 and not later than 01-01-2008).
➢ Sub-Officer: The age of the Applicant must be 20-24 years as on 01-01-2026 (i.e., Applicants born not before 01-01-2002 and not later than 01-01-2006).
➢ Constable (Grade-III), Bandman (Constable), Bugler, Forester Grade-I, Game Watcher & Forest Guard: The age of the Applicant must be 18-40 years as on 01-01-2026 (i.e., Applicants born not before 01-01-1986 and not later than 01-01-2008).
➢ AFPF Constable, Constable (WO/WT), Constable (UB), Fireman & Emergency Rescuer & Boatman: The age of the Applicant must be 18-25 years as on 01-01-2026 (i.e., Applicants born not before 01-01-2001 and not later than 01-01-2008).
➢ Grade IV in Assam Commando Battalions: The age of the Applicant must be 18-25 years as on 01-01-2026 (i.e., Applicants born not before 01-01-2001 and not later than 01-01-2008).
➢ Grade IV in Assam Police, F & ES and DGCD & CGHG: The age of the Applicant must be 18-40 years as on 01-01-2026 (i.e., Applicants born not before 01-01-1986 and not later than 01-01-2008)
Note: The age of the Applicants will be calculated on the basis of the
Matriculation/HSLC Admit Card/HSLC Passed Certificate issued by a
recognized Board/Council. No other document shall be accepted in lieu
thereof for this purpose.
Age Relaxation

• OBC/ MOBC: 3 (three) years
Educational Qualification of Assam Police Recruitment 2026
❖ Constable (UB): Candidates must be H.S. or Class XII passed from Govt. recognized Board or Council.
❖ Constable (AB): Candidates must be H.S.L.C or Class-X passed from Govt. recognized Board or Council.
❖ Sub Inspector (UB) & Assistant Jailor: Applicant must be a graduate in Arts/Science/ Commerce or equivalent stream from a recognized College/Institution affiliated to a recognized University.
❖ Station Officer & Squad Commander: B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics from a recognized College/Institution affiliated to a recognized University.
❖ Sub Inspector of Police Communication:
B.Sc. (Electronics Science/ IT/ Computer Science) (10+2+3 duration)
or
3-year Diploma from State Polytechnic in Electronics and Tele Communication, or Electronics or Information Technology, or Instrumentation or Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent with 2 years work experience in the field of Electronics, Telecom, IT or allied environment.
or
3-year Diploma from State Polytechnic in Electronics and Tele Communication, or Electronics or Information Technology, or Instrumentation or Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent and 2 years additional course/courses in Telecommunication /IT /Computer Science/ Computer Engineering or equivalent.
or
Master of Computer Application (MCA)
or
B.E./ B. Tec. in E & TC or Computer or Instrumentation or IT or equivalent qualification in same discipline.
❖ Sub Inspector (AB): The Applicant must be a graduate in Arts /Science/Commerce or equivalent stream from a recognized College/Institution affiliated to a recognized University.
❖ Driver Constable, Constable (Dispatch Rider/ Messenger/ Handymen), Driver, Driver Operator, Driver Constable:
• HSLC or equivalent examination passed from a recognized Board or Council.
• For the post of Driver Constable in Assam Police, Constable (Dispatch Rider), Constable
(Messenger) & Constable (Handymen) in APRO and Driver and Driver Constable in Forest Department, Applicant must possess valid driving license for LMV or MMV or HMV.
• For the post of Driver and Driver Operator in F & ES, Applicant must possess valid driving license for HMV.
❖ Safai Karmachari:
Minimum Class VI passed from a recognized School or Institution and maximum qualification will be HSSLC or Class XII passed from recognized Board or Council.
❖ Jail Warder: HSLC or equivalent examination passed from a recognized Board or Council.
❖ Forester Grade-I: Bachelor Degree in any discipline from recognized University or equivalent.
❖ Forest Guard, Game Watcher & Constable (UB) in APRO: H.S. (10+2) or equivalent examination passed from a recognized Board or Council.
❖ AFPF Constable, Constable (Grade-III), Bandman (Constable) & Bugler: HSLC or equivalent examination passed from a recognized Board or Council.
❖ Note: Applicants having educational qualification of Higher Secondary and above may apply for both Armed Branch & Unarmed Branch. In such cases, Applicant has to clearly mention his/her preferences for the posts.

Medical Standards
❖ General Health: Applicant must be in good mental and bodily health. They must be free from any physical deformities and free from diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, hernia, piles, respiratory diseases, knock-knee, flat foot or any other physical deformity that is likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties. Applicants should not be colour blind or be squint eyed.
❖ Eye Sight: The distance vision should be 6/6 for at least one eye and not poorer than 6/9 for the other without correction. Near vision should be normal.
❖ Varicose Vein: Varicose vein shall be considered as temporary disqualification.
All candidates for the 2025–2026 season must register a fresh and generate a new application ID. Application IDs from previous seasons will not be valid for the 2025–2026 season.
