The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has openings for faculty positions for Indian Nationals at the level of Assistant Professor in the areas of specialization as indicated against each. Candidates having good academic record, teaching/ research experience and working in related areas of research are encouraged to apply.

Name of the Post: Assistant Professor

Qualification: Candidates must possess Master‘s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/ relevant/ allied subject.

Along with the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET)/ SLET/ SET or must have a Ph. D. Degree. Candidates who have Ph. D. degree shall be exempted from the NET/ SET or SLET for recruitment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:

1. The Ph.D. degree has been awarded in a regular mode;
2. The Ph.D. thesis should evaluated by at least two (02) external examiners;
3. An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;
4. The Candidate has published two (02) research papers from their Ph.D. work, out of which at
5. least one is in a refereed journal;
6. Presented at least two (02) papers based on his/ her Ph.D work in conferences/ funded/ seminars sponsored/ supported by the UGC / ICSSR/ CSIR or any similar agency.

Application Fee:

• Rs. 1000/- from candidates belonging to General, OBC and EWS Category.
• Application fee is Nil for SC/ST/PWD and women candidates.

General Instructions:

1. The eligible and willing persons are required to apply online in the format available on the University website www.jnu.ac.in/career. Only online applications will be accepted.
2. Applicants are required to upload the photograph, scanned copies of all certificates, mark sheets, evidence of teaching, research, NOC from the employer, M.A, M.Phil, Ph.D, NET certificates, certificate containing the record of date of birth, caste certificate, copies of reprints of published articles etc.
3. It should be noted that Incomplete application form without scanned signatures and other documents shall be summarily rejected.
4. The required qualifications/ Pay Level for these positions will be as per the UGC Regulations, 2018, as amended from time to time.
