Commissionerate of Food Safety and Drug Administration, Assam invites online applications from intending candidates for filling up 34 nos. of posts of Food Safety Officer under Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Assam.

Name of the Post: Food Safety Officer
No. of Post: 34 [UR-13, EwS-6, OBC/MOBC-10, STP-3, STH-2]

Academic Qualification: A candidate must have:

• Degree in Food Technology or Dairy Technology or Biotechnology or Oil Technology or Agricultural Science or Veterinary Science or Biochemistry or Microbiology or Masters Degree in Chemistry or Degree in Medicine from a recognized Unversity, or


• Any other equivalent/ recognized qualification notified by the Central Government.

Scale of Pay: Rs. 22,000/- to 87,000/- PM with Grade pay of Rs. 9,100/- PM plus other allowances as applicable from time to time as per Govt. Rules.

Age: The candidate should not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 38 years of age as on 01.01.2019.

The upper age limit is relaxable by (if applicable)-

• 5years for SC/ST candidates ie. up to 43 years


• 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates i.e. up to 41 years


• For Persons with Disabilities (PWD) by 10 years irrespective of SC/ST/OBC and General Category of candidates.

Note: The age limit of the candidates will be calculated on the basis of the Matriculation/ HSLC Admit card/ Certificate issued by a recognized Board/ Council and no other document shall be accepted in lieu of the mentioned documents.

Process of Recruitment:

• The selection procedure will be notified later on by issuing addendum.


• The Board will decide the procedure for selection in respect of the posts on the basis of the number of applications received.

Application Fees:

• Rs. 250- for General category candidates.


• Rs. 150/- only for OBCMOBC/ SC/ ST(P)/ ST(H) candidate.


• No application fee is required for BPL and PWD candidates

Payment Mode: Application fee should be deposited only through Treasury Challan in the Head of Account "0210-Medical and Public Health-01-Urban Health Services-800-Other Receipt".

Other Instructions:

Candidates need not submit any testimonials/ certificates at the time of submission of online application. However, candidates have to produce their original testimonials regarding educational qualification, date of birth, caste, Treasury Challan, EWS, PWD, working experience etc. at the time of interview. Self-attested copies of all testimonials/ certificates will have to be submitted to the Board at the time of interview.
